Liverpool took away a point from their first encounter of the season, settling for a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at Anfield.

Luis Suarez missed a penalty at five minutes, awarded after an unfair challenge from Kieran Richardson, but was rewarded with the League's first goal of the season seven minutes later.

Sebastian Larsson scored on his debut for the Black Cats, finding the net from inside the area to put the visitors level ten minutes into the second half.

Kenny Dalglish's side travel to the Emirates next Saturday, while Sunderland play host to Newcastle in an early kick-off.
