Shaqiri hits back at Stoke criticism

New Liverpool signing Xherdan Shaqiri has hit back at suggestions that he lacked commitment for Stoke City last season.

The Potters saw their 10-season stay in the Premier League come to an end when they suffered relegation from the top flight, leading to suggestions that a number of key players did not have the right attitude and lacked professionalism.

Shaqiri's former Stoke teammate Charlie Adam was amongst those to suggest that the 26-year-old let the team down with his performances, but Shaqiri has insisted that he pays little heed to such accusations.

"It's totally wrong, I think. People who know me, they know who I am," Shaqiri told reporters.

"Other people don't know what they are saying. I don't listen to them, I do my work. I'm really happy to do my work and I don't need to listen to these people about what they say."

Shaqiri could make his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt when they take on Manchester United in an International Champions Cup match in Michigan on Saturday.
