Brendan Rodgers: 'Daniel Sturridge is better than Harry Kane'

Daniel Sturridge remains England's best striker, according to Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that Daniel Sturridge is still England's best striker ahead of tonight's clash with Tottenham Hotspur, and their in-form attacker Harry Kane.

Kane scored twice in Saturday's North London derby win over Arsenal, which has taken his tally to 22 goals this season, but Rodgers believes that Sturridge is still the main man and that he and Kane can work together on the international stage.

He told reporters: "For me there's not anyone better than Daniel Sturridge. He's got everything in his game if he's playing consistently. His goal scoring record, his pace, his power, he's got everything.

"But I'm sure Daniel will look at it that there's another young English striker coming through and that will really help him when they come together at international level. If Harry Kane's going to be of the level to go on and play for England, which I believe he is, then that helps Daniel and the other Liverpool ­players who play for England, because it means you get another top-quality striker."

Kane is yet to receive an international call-up.
