Brendan Rodgers: 'It was a very complete performance'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his side produced a "very complete" performance in winning 2-0 away at Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his belief that his side produced a "very complete" performance in their Premier League victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Reds extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to eight matches as Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert scored in a 2-0 win in the West Midlands.

Rodgers felt that there were pleasing aspects of their display from both defensive and attacking standpoints.

"It was always going to be a difficult game. Aston Villa are a hard team to try to break down but we were very complete in our performance," he told reporters.

"We passed the ball around really well at times and our counter-attack was very good, and we probably should have exploited that more than we did.

"Importantly, when we had to defend at important moments of the game we stood up to the challenge and it is another clean sheet."

Borini's goal was his first for Liverpool since April 2013 and Lambert's only his second in the Premier League since joining the Merseysiders, who are now seventh in the table, in the summer.
