Report: Rodgers in talks with Al Sadd

Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly in talks with Qatar side Al Sadd about becoming their next manager.

The 42-year-old has been out of work since being dismissed by Liverpool at the beginning of last month.

Rodgers has reportedly been spending time away from football in Spain since losing his job at Anfield, although the Northern Irishman has been linked with a host of clubs, including Chelsea, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Real Sociedad.

According to The Sun, Al Sadd have held discussions with Rodgers about taking charge and, should he take the job, he would earn a tax-free salary of £3.5m.

Al Sadd, who are currently managed by Hussein Amotta, have former Barcelona and Spain midfielder Xavi as their captain.
