Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina tells fans that they need to remain patient as the side try to put right their disappointing start to the season.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has told fans that they must be patient as the side looks to turn around their disappointing start to the season.

The Reds have managed just one win from their opening seven matches in the Premier League and currently sit 14th in the table.

"We are trying to impose a new style with a new manager and that takes time," Reina told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

"There are mistakes at times because it's not easy, but I prefer to make mistakes trying to do what the manager wants and trying to do the right thing.

"We're optimistic that sooner or later we'll be fighting near the top of the league again."

The Merseysiders return to Premier League action next Saturday when they welcome Reading to Anfield.
