Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has challenged his teammates to show how good they are by beating Liverpool in the upcoming Merseyside derby.
The bitter rivals face off on June 21 in their first game back following an enforced absence of more than three months due to the coronavirus pandemic, possibly at a neutral venue.
Liverpool thrashed Everton 5-2 in the reverse fixture and knocked the Toffees out of the FA Cup with a below-strength side in January.
However, Pickford insists that his side are capable of pulling off an upset later this month to delay the Reds' title celebrations.
"We want to win every game we play and any sort of derby match is massive for the fans and for players," he told Sky Sports News.
"We want to show how good we can be and we have an opportunity to beat them. We know they are a good side, they are top of the league. We just want to do our best and try to beat them.
"We know we have the ability in the squad to beat them. We just want to do it for ourselves and our fans."
Liverpool can win the Premier League title with victory over Everton should Manchester City lose to Arsenal four days beforehand.
