Liverpool decline Reina appeal

Liverpool have reportedly opted not to appeal the red card that was handed to goalkeeper Pepe Reina yesterday afternoon.

The Spanish international was handed his marching orders by referee Martin Atkinson for clashing with Newcastle United defender James Perch at the Sports Direct Arena.

Manager Kenny Dalglish yesterday admitted that he could have no complaints with Reina's dismissal.

The 29-year-old will now be suspended for the club's next two Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.

He will also miss the FA Cup semi-final against Merseyside rivals Everton later this month.

Liverpool went on to lose the match against the Magpies 2-0.
