Michael Laudrup: Brendan Rodgers is "important part" of Swansea City's history

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup insists that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers must be respected as he is an "important part" of the Swans' history.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has insisted that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is an "important part" of the club's history.

Rodgers guided the Swans to the Premier League and kept them up in their return to the top flight, finishing in 11th place before he left to join the Reds in the summer of 2012.

"He's an important part of the history of this club," Laudrup told the club's official website.

"It's important to remember what people have done for the club, but, on Monday, he will be with them, and we will do everything to beat him and his team."

Swansea face Liverpool later today at the Liberty Stadium.
