Rickie Lambert: 'Steven Gerrard will never be forgotten'

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert believes that Steven Gerrard's contribution at the club will never be forgotten by the fans.

Rickie Lambert has said that Steven Gerrard's contribution to Liverpool will never be forgotten by the fans following confirmation that the captain is to leave the club at the end of the season.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and has announced that he will not be signing a new deal at Anfield, ending a 17-year spell in the senior squad.

The striker told the club's website: "Stevie is his own man by he is Mr Liverpool. He's number one for me and I think he always will be. He has meant everything to me, growing up as a Liverpool fan.

"The nights he has given Liverpool fans are unbelievable, I'll never forget them and I know the Liverpool fans will never forget them."

Gerrard has been linked with several MLS teams, having confirmed that he will be moving to a foreign league.
