Jan Molby tells Jurgen Klopp to start Christian Benteke

Jan Molby urges Jurgen Klopp to start Christian Benteke up front when Liverpool play host to Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has insisted that manager Jurgen Klopp should start Christian Benteke during the Boxing Day clash against Leicester City.

The summer signing from Aston Villa has often found himself among the substitutes since Klopp took charge of the Reds in October.

However, having gone four matches in all competitions without a win, Molby has claimed that now is the time to revert back to basics ahead of the visit of the league leaders.

"Christian Benteke has to start up front for Liverpool against Leicester City," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"When you're not playing well - and Liverpool certainly aren't - it's not the time to be trying new things or playing people out of position. The false nine and front three just didn't work against Watford.

"Benteke will give Liverpool someone to hit and a way of playing. It has the makings of a superb game which could just get wild and out of control. At that stage Liverpool will want a situation where they can get the ball into Benteke's feet and calm the game down a bit for a while."

The Belgium international has scored four goals in 14 Premier League outings this season.
