Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez was reportedly in attendance at Wembley on Sunday in order to watch Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho against Tottenham Hotspur.

Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez was reportedly in attendance at Wembley to watch Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho during Sunday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Barca were unsuccessful in their bid to prise Coutinho away from Anfield during the summer, with Liverpool holding firm despite several big-money bids and the player's desire to leave.

The Spanish giants are expected to return for the Brazilian again in January, and Mundo Deportivo claims that the latest overtures were made during Sunday's match at Wembley.

Liverpool were on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat at the hands of their top-four rivals, with Coutinho playing the full 90 minutes and registering an assist as the Reds slipped down to ninth in the Premier League table.

Coutinho has now directly contributed to seven goals in his nine appearances for Liverpool across all competitions this season.
