Arthur, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk all return to Liverpool training ahead of Monday's Merseyside derby against Everton in the Premier League.

Liverpool have welcomed no fewer than four players back to first-team training as they ramp up preparations for Monday's Merseyside derby with Everton at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has been working around a squad decimated by injuries during their troubled start to the season, which has left the Reds 10th in the Premier League table.

Liverpool are without a top-flight win since Wout Faes's pair of own goals propelled them to a 2-1 victory over Leicester City in December, failing to win any of their four league games in 2023 so far.

The Reds managed to hold fellow strugglers Chelsea to a goalless draw at Anfield, but they have suffered three successive away defeats to Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Klopp's side have conceded nine goals and scored just one in their trio of woeful defeats on the road, but there were some welcome returns to practice at Kirkby on Thursday.

Arthur, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk all took part in full training with the team, with the former aiming to finally kickstart his Reds career after thigh surgery.

The Juventus loanee had played just 13 minutes in the Champions League for Liverpool before entering the treatment room, and he is yet to make his Premier League debut under Klopp.

However, Arthur is now back to bolster Liverpool's midfield options, while Fabinho was also pictured in the session after missing last weekend's 3-0 loss at Wolves through illness.

Further up the field, Klopp has been working with limited attacking options in recent weeks, but Jota and Firmino were both being put through their paces and taking part in shooting drills.

Jota has been out of action since suffering a serious calf injury in Liverpool's win over Manchester City on October 16, which ended his chances of representing Portugal at the World Cup.

The 26-year-old has been restricted to just eight appearances this season, having also missed the first few weeks due to a hamstring problem, but he still has five assists to his name in the 2022-23 campaign.

Meanwhile, Firmino - who was not called up to Brazil's squad for the World Cup - has not played for Liverpool since the end of the Qatar tournament due to a troublesome calf problem.

The striker's issue was not initially believed to have been serious, but he suffered a setback and has been absent for the Reds' last 10 games across all competitions.

Finally, centre-back van Dijk also cut a jolly figure as he returned to team training from a hamstring problem sustained in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat at Brentford on January 2.

The Dutchman lasted 45 minutes at the Gtech Community Stadium before coming off in what was thought to have been a precautionary change, but scans subsequently revealed a more serious issue.

Whether Klopp is willing to risk any of the quartet for Monday remains to be seen, and the Liverpool boss will give a fresh update on their availability in his pre-match press conference.

Liverpool will remain without Luis Diaz (knee) and Ibrahima Konate (thigh) for the visit of Everton, who sit 18th in the table after beginning the Sean Dyche era with a 1-0 win over league leaders Arsenal last Saturday.
