Swansea City's Michael Laudrup plays down Brendan Rodgers factor in Liverpool clash

Michael Laudrup insists that he is not giving Swansea City's clash with Liverpool on Wednesday any extra importance because of Brendan Rodgers.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has insisted that he will not be affected by Brendan Rodgers's history with the Welsh club on Wednesday.

Rodgers left the Swans in the summer to become the Liverpool manager and also signed midfielder Joe Allen from his former club.

Liverpool will host Swansea in the fourth round of the League Cup in midweek, and Laudrup claims that the presence of his predecessor and Allen in the opposition team will not affect his approach to the match.

"For me this is nothing different, I want to win all the games," he is quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I know there is something special when you see former players and coaches, but for me it is Swansea against Liverpool, not against Brendan Rodgers or Joe Allen.

"It's at Anfield and it is a big game in a competition where if we win we can claim a place in the record books of Swansea City."

Swansea have never played in the quarter-finals of the League Cup in their history.
