How Liverpool could line up against Sheffield United

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Saturday's early Premier League kickoff against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Liverpool's quest to continue their perfect Premier League start next takes them to Bramall Lane, one of only three stadiums where the Reds have played but never won in the competition.

Jurgen Klopp's side have begun the 2019-20 campaign in imperious form with six wins from six to race into a five-point lead, most recently beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

However, they take on a Sheffield United side that sits in mid-table upon their return to the top flight and that has already taken points off the likes of Chelsea and Everton.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up in the Steel City.

Klopp made 11 changes to his side for the midweek EFL Cup win over MK Dons, and the entire team could be different again for Saturday's early kickoff.

Man of the match James Milner is one of the players who put his name forward for a chance to retain his spot in the XI, although he featured at left-back in that match and Andrew Robertson will regain that position this weekend.

Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson will all be expecting recalls too, meaning that Milner is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench once again.

Liverpool's main injury doubt surrounds Sadio Mane, who suffered a dead leg against Chelsea and will be monitored ahead of this game, although he is considered a likely starter alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the front three.

Should Mane not make it then Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are among the players in contention to feature in a more advanced position, with Divock Origi still a major doubt due to an ankle injury.

Virgil van Dijk will return at the heart of the defence in a week which saw him narrowly miss out to Lionel Messi in the FIFA Player of the Year awards, while the newly-crowned FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year Alisson remains sidelined despite providing a positive update on his injury.
