How Liverpool could line up against Bournemouth

How Liverpool could line up against Bournemouth

Liverpool will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday when they host Bournemouth at Anfield.

The Reds have drawn their last two outings and on Wednesday night were knocked off top spot for the first time since December 16 courtesy of Manchester City's win over Everton.

Jurgen Klopp's side do still have a game in hand, but they have seen what was once a seven-point lead at the top wiped out and know that any more slip-ups would hand the initiative to the champions in the title race.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for the visit of the Cherries.

Liverpool's injury problems have undoubtedly contributed to their recent dip in form, but they may be able to welcome Trent Alexander-Arnold back from a knee injury this weekend.

Klopp has been forced to field Jordan Henderson and James Milner at right-back in the past two games and so Alexander-Arnold is expected to come straight back into the starting XI should he be deemed fit enough.

Doubts remain over the fitness of Dejan Lovren, though, while both Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum missed the draw with West Ham United on Monday night and are question marks for this one too.

Naby Keita's underwhelming form could cost him a place in the team, while Xherdan Shaqiri is pushing for a recall ahead of Adam Lallana and his cause may be aided if Klopp reverts to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Mohamed Salah would lead the line in that instance, and he has a fine record against the Cherries having scored five goals in his three previous meetings with them, including a hat-trick in the reverse fixture.
