Gary Lineker: 'Sacking Nigel Pearson a stupid decision'

Former Leicester City striker Gary Lineker says that the decision to sack Nigel Pearson as manager was 'stupid'.

Former Leicester City star Gary Lineker has hit out at the club's decision to sack manager Nigel Pearson.

The Match of the Day presenter took to Twitter after the news broke to point out the apparent "stupidity" of the dismissal.

"So, after not only getting Leicester promoted but pulling off the most miraculous escape in PL history, Pearson is sacked," Lineker wrote.

"Those who run football never cease to amaze with their stupidity."

Pearson, who helped the Foxes avoid relegation to the Championship last season, was axed due to "fundamental differences in perspective" with the club's board.

Lineker made 194 appearances for Leicester between 1978 and 1985, netting 95 goals.
