Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez says that he does not fear relegation just six months after lifting the Premier League title.

Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has claimed that he does not worry about the threat of relegation for the defending Premier League champions.

Claudio Ranieri's men sit two points above the bottom three after winning just three of their league fixtures this season.

It is a far cry from the 2015-16 campaign when they took home the title with a 10-point margin, becoming English champions for the first time in the club's history.

Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Watford stretched the Foxes' winless league run to three games, but Mahrez is not overly concerned.

"I don't think [about relegation]," the 25-year-old Algerian told reporters. "We have good quality to stay in the Premier League and maybe more.

"We didn't deserve to lose [to Watford]. That happens in football. We can't win every time. We see the strength of the squad and we must react. Maybe there's frustration. It's not that we don't play well, it's about losing the game. I know we're going to react."

Leicester will switch their attention to the Champions League as they prepare to face Club Brugge at home on Tuesday night.

Ranieri's side have a three-point lead at the top of Group G following three wins and a draw.
