Nigel Pearson: 'We were right to break club record for Leonardo Ulloa'

Pearson: 'Ulloa price was reasonable'

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has claimed that it was an easy decision to pay a club-record £8m to secure the services of Leonardo Ulloa in the summer.

Ulloa has started his Premier League career with five goals in seven games since leaving Brighton & Hove Albion, and Pearson insists that it was crucial for Leicester to beat any rivals to the Argentine's signature.

"When you look at how much players cost right now, I don't think it was expensive," the Foxes boss told members of the media.

"We broke our record to get him but we felt he had the qualities we needed - not just in terms of goals, but his link-up play has been excellent too."

Leicester return to action against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
