Leicester City reportedly draw up a four-man shortlist to replace Brendan Rodgers, who left the Foxes by mutual consent on Sunday.

Leicester City have reportedly put together a four-man shortlist of potential candidates to replace Brendan Rodgers.

On Sunday afternoon, the Foxes announced that the Northern Irishman's four-year stint at the King Power Stadium had been ended by mutual agreement.

The decision was taken with Leicester having collected just one point from their last six games in the Premier League, leaving the club in 19th position in the standings.

Despite their unforeseen spot in the relegation zone, the East Midlands outfit sit just three points adrift of 13th place, giving Rodgers's replacement the opportunity to haul the club out of trouble.

As it stands, Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell - Leicester's first-team coach and goalkeeping coach - have been placed in interim charge ahead of Tuesday's fixture at home to Aston Villa.

However, a more senior appointment is expected to be made in due course, with the Daily Mail claiming that four candidates have been identified.

Ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and Everton boss Rafael Benitez is said to be on that shortlist, the Spaniard having been out of work since being sacked by the former in January 2022.

The 62-year-old has been linked with other positions in the Premier League this season without being successful in securing the 14th senior managerial role of his career.

Jesse Marsch and Ralph Hasenhuttl, who have both lost top-flight roles during 2022-23, are also said to be under consideration by the Leicester hierarchy.

Marsch departed Leeds United at the beginning of February with the Yorkshire giants in the relegation zone, yet he became an immediate candidate to replace Hasenhuttl at Southampton.

Nevertheless, it was determined that the American was not the right man for the role at St Mary's, and both managers remain out of work.

The final manager on the list is said to be Adi Hutter, who was most recently at Borussia Monchengladbach for a season before his exit in May 2022.

Huttler was won Austrian and Swiss titles with Red Bull Salzburg and Young Boys respectively, while he took Eintracht Frankfurt to the 2018-19 Europa League semi-finals before losing to Chelsea on penalties.
