Half-Time Report: Leicester City and West Ham United trade blows

Leicester and West Ham trade blows

Leicester City and West Ham United go in level at the break thanks to goals from Esteban Cambiasso and Cheikhou Kouyate in a pulsating half at the King Power Stadium.

The Hammers tested their hosts inside the opening two minutes when Diafra Sakho met Mark Noble's free kick, but the Senegalese striker could only direct his header straight into the arms of a grateful Kasper Schmeichel.

At the other end, Leonardo Ulloa sent an early effort high over the top of Adrian's goal, before the Foxes took the lead in style.

Cambiasso met the ball 25 yards from goal and sent a thunderous half-volley beyond Adrian and into the corner of the net on 12 minutes.

Kouyate would have levelled moments later but for Schmiechel's save, and Nigel Pearson's side then squandered a golden opportunity to go two ahead.

It was Schemichel's long ball forward that found Ulloa, who drove into the West Ham box only to be felled by Carl Jenkinson, leading referee Mark Clattenburg to point to the spot.

David Nugent stepped up to take the penalty, but saw his effort beaten away by Adrian, and the miss came back to haunt Leciester when West Ham equalised to make it 1-1 shortly after the half-hour mark.

Jenkinson's ball inside found Alex Song, who chipped a sublime cross towards the back post that was hammered home by Kouyate for his fourth Premier League goal of the season.
