Ross McCormack: 'I would sign new Leeds United contract'

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack insists that he would sign a new long-term deal at Elland Road as Middlesbrough continue to chase the Scottish forward's signature.

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack has insisted that he would sign a new long-term deal at Elland Road if offered fresh terms, as speculation persists over his future.

McCormack has been the subject of two bids from Middlesbrough this summer, with the latest offer reaching £1.3m rejected by their Championship rivals.

The Scottish striker declared that he remains calm about the situation, with his focus on performing for Leeds boss Brian McDermott until told otherwise.

He told The Mirror: "If the club were to give me a longer contract, then I am more than happy to sign it. Whether that comes or not could be a different story.

"I know there are other teams interested in me, but I am very calm about the situation. Whatever is going to happen will happen. The main thing is that I am very happy here and focused solely on Leeds United."

Boro are believed to be readying a third offer for the 27-year-old, who shrugged off speculation to score for Leeds against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
