Leeds United winger Raphinha disappointed by Rennes' decision to sell him

Leeds United winger Raphinha suggests that he was left disappointed when Rennes informed him that they had accepted an offer for his signature in October.

Leeds United winger Raphinha has claimed that he felt "devalued" when Rennes made the decision to sell him during the summer.

Having starred for the French outfit during his first campaign at the club, Leeds made their move for the Brazilian after their return to the Premier League.

The Yorkshire giants were successful with a £17m bid for the 23-year-old, who has since featured on seven occasions in England's top flight.

However, Raphinha has suggested that he initially had little desire to depart Rennes after helping them qualify for the Champions League.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil, the player said: "I learned on the Saturday [two days before his move], when I joined the rest of the squad for training, that Rennes had accepted an offer for me.

"I was a little surprised, because I was just finishing my debut season in France. We had started the season well in the league and I was already thinking of playing my first Champions League.

"They told me that they would not want to sell me for less than €60m (£55m). Knowing that the club accepted the offer, no more and no less, without telling me, I felt devalued. The offer was less than what they had spent to recruit me. It made it clear to me that I was not part of the plans of the club and the coach. They just decided to sell me."

Raphinha has so far made a positive impact at Elland Road, scoring his first goal during the 1-0 win at Everton last month.
