After a goalless first half, the hosts nearly took the lead in the 47th minute when Hernanes's strike rattled the crossbar.

The decisive moment came with 10 minutes to play as Marco Borriello fired in his first goal of the campaign.

Genoa's first win in three matches has seen them move up to seventh in the Serie A table, while Lazio stay third.
