Igli Tare: 'Still hope for Lazio'

Tare: 'Still hope for Lazio'

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has said that referee William Collum was right to send off Ogenyi Onazi against Fenerbahce last night.

The Nigerian midfielder received his marching orders when shown a second yellow for a cynical foul on Cristian Baroni just after half time.

Although Tare believes that the Scottish referee made the correct decision, he still believes that the Biancocelesti were unfairly treated.

"The sending-off of Onazi was right, it was a second yellow card," Tare told reporters.

"The problem is after that, the referee affected us with continuous punishment."

Despite losing 2-0 in Istanbul, Tare believes that Lazio can still progress to the semi-finals.

"I think the team has played a really great game," he added. "There is still hope for us."

The second leg takes place at the Stadio Olimpico next Thursday.
