Robbie Keane: 'Steven Gerrard won't be given Los Angeles Galaxy captaincy'

Keane: 'Gerrard won't be LA captain'

Los Angeles Galaxy striker Robbie Keane has insisted that Steven Gerrard will not arrive at the MLS club to take the captain's armband.

The midfielder will reunite with his former teammate in the United States in the summer when he brings an end to his 25-year Liverpool career.

Keane, who is the current skipper of LA Galaxy, has been part of the club since 2011 after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

"He is arriving as an addition, not as a replacement as captain," Keane told reporters. "I have spoken to Steven and he is excited about the challenge of coming to LA Galaxy. He is going to be a great addition to our squad."

Gerrard has agreed an 18-month deal with the American outfit.
