Kasimpasa vs Trabzonspor - prediction, team news, lineups

Kasimpasa return to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium on Monday for round two of the 2025-26 Turkish Super Lig, aiming to spark their campaign to life after a disappointing start when they take on Trabzonspor.

The Apaches opened with a 2-1 defeat to Antalyaspor, extending a poor run that stretches back to last season.

Match preview

Kasimpasa ended the 2024-25 campaign with two draws and a loss, a sequence that brought an end to Burak Yilmaz’s tenure in June.

Shota Arveladze was appointed in July, but his side have yet to show improvement, following up mixed pre-season form with last weekend’s loss.

Now winless in six competitive games, the Apaches look to halt their slide against Trabzonspor, whom they held to draws in both meetings last term, and even beat before the draws, leaving them with a three-match unbeaten streak.

However, Kasimpasa’s recent home record is a concern, with just five wins from 18 last season, and none in their last three on home turf.

Trabzonspor, meanwhile, are targeting a stronger season after finishing seventh last term, and they began positively with a narrow 1-0 victory over newly-promoted Kocaelispor.

Paul Onuachu, signed permanently after a productive loan spell, made an immediate impact by scoring the decisive goal early in the second half.

Fatih Tekke’s side also reached the Turkish Cup final last season, losing 3-0 to Galatasaray, and missing out on Europe in the process.

With ambitions to return to continental competition, improving their away record will be crucial, as the visitors won just three of 18 away matches last term, though encouragingly finished with a four-game unbeaten run on the road.

Team News

Kasimpasa lost top scorer Nuno Da Costa - who struck 13 league goals last season - on a free transfer to Basaksehir.

New arrival Pape Gueye did find the net on his debut, and is expected to lead the line again with Haris Hajradinovic supporting from midfield.

Trabzonspor face significant injury concerns, with Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme sidelined until next month with thigh issues, while Borna Barisic continues to recover from a cruciate ligament injury.

In addition, the trio of Cihan Canak, Oleksandr Zubkov, and Onuralp Cevikkan also remain doubtful.

Kasimpasa possible starting lineup:

Gianniotis; Winck, Szalai, Opoku, Espinoza; Cafu, Baldursson; Fall, Hajradinovic, Ben Ouannes; Gueye

Trabzonspor possible starting lineup:

Cakir; Eskihellac, Savic, Batagov, Pina; Zabol-Folkarelli, Yokuslu; Olaigbe, Bosluk, Sikan; Augusto

We say: Kasimpasa 1-1 Trabzonspor

Kasimpasa will look to use home advantage, but they face a tough task against a Trabzonspor side full of attacking quality, but while the visitors have enough firepower to cause problems, the host’s resilience and counterattacking threat mean they should not be underestimated.

With both teams capable of finding the net, this clash could be closely fought, and a draw seems the most likely outcome, with neither side likely to fully dominate proceedings.
