Fiorentina bid for Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani

Fiorentina have submitted a bid to Liverpool for Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani, according to reports.

The People claims that La Viola have agreed a fee of £7m with Liverpool for the playmaker but have yet to begin contract talks.

The 28-year-old has been a key part in Liverpool's pre-season plans, playing on the club's tour of North America and being given hope of a fresh start by Brendan Rodgers.

Aquilani has spent the past two seasons on loan in Serie A, playing for Juventus and AC Milan with mixed success.

The Italian international's future is still the subject of much debate at Anfield.
