Giuseppe Marotta: 'Juventus should not be making excuses after poor start'

Marotta: 'We should not be making excuses'

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that the team should not be falling back on excuses following their tough start to the new season.

The current Serie A champions have picked up just one point so far, and Marotta has told the Old Lady's coach Massimiliano Allegri to focus on the present instead of the club's previous successes.

"It is normal that there needs to be patience, but this should not explain everything," Marotta told Rai Sport.

"The Juventus way should not be to make excuses. In all competitions, our goal is to win. We have a whole new team trying to play the way last year's players did, but even I did not expect such difficulties.

"My advice to Allegri is that he should stop thinking about last campaign's successes."

Juve's form has left them languishing in 16th spot in the table after three games.
