Half-Time Report: Juventus close in on last-16 spot

Juventus close in on a place in the last 16 of the Europa League after recording a 2-0 half-time lead over Trabzonspor in Turkey.

Juventus are closing in on a place in the last 16 of the Europa League after recording a 2-0 half-time lead over Trabzonspor in Turkey tonight.

The Bianconeri, who led the tie 4-0 on aggregate after registering first-leg win last week, came within the width of the post from finding an early goal through Mauricio Isla, who struck the post on five minutes.

Federico Peluso had a goal chalked off for offside shortly after but Arturo Vidal was on hand to give his side a legitimate lead on 18 minutes.

The Chilean smashed into the roof of the net from close range after Sebastian Giovinco's initial effort was saved by Onur Kivrak.

Pablo Osvaldo, who fired Juve ahead in Turin seven days ago, struck again to double his team's lead on the night, collecting a Giovinco pass before prodding beyond Kivrak from close range to ensure that their Turkish counterparts need no fewer than five goals in order to progress to the next stage.
