Javier Mascherano: 'Luis Suarez a top player'

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has sung the praises of Luis Suarez following the team's Champions League final victory over Juventus.

The Catalan club earned their fifth major European crown with a 3-1 victory in Berlin, thanks to goals from Ivan Rakitic, Suarez and Neymar that in turn handed boss Luis Enrique a treble during his first season as manager.

"In the season we had some difficult moments we had to pass but we did it. We kept working and today we can celebrate," Mascherano told ITV Sport after the game.

"Luis [Suarez] came here for this. He's a great player with a positive mentality. He's a top player and a really good person so I am really happy for him."

Suarez ended the Champions League campaign with six goals in the tournament.
