Stephan Lichtsteiner: 'Juventus unlucky to lose Champions League final'

Stephan Lichtsteiner claims that Juventus could have beaten Barcelona in the Champions League final on another day.

Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has claimed that he and his teammates were unlucky to lose to Barcelona in the Champions League final.

The Italian champions saw their hopes of winning the treble ended on Saturday as they were downed 3-1 by Barca in Berlin.

Despite coming away from the match with nothing to show for their efforts, Lichtsteiner believes that Juve could have lifted the trophy on another day.

"We were in the game and we could have won," he is quoted as saying by UEFA.com. "We played a good game, but unfortunately it didn't work all the way. If we had worked better in some details, perhaps it would have gone better."

Juventus were last crowned the champions of Europe back in 1996.
