Cesare Prandelli honoured by Italy half-century

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has declared that he will feel a sense of pride of achievement when he leads the Azzurri into his 50th match in charge against Nigeria tonight.

Prandelli replaced Marcelo Lippi as Azzurri boss in 2010, rebuilding a side that he led to the European Championship final two years later.

Ahead of his half-century at Craven Cottage tonight, the 56-year-old has refused to look past next summer's World Cup, wanting complete focus on preparations for a bid for success in South America.

He told RAI Sport: "It will be an honour to reach such a landmark against Nigeria. I want to thank all of those who have worked by my side over these last few years.

"Another 50 games in charge? It is premature to talk about that possibility right now. Let's just celebrate with a good display."

Prandelli is likely to field an experimental side at Craven Cottage this evening, with Giuseppe Rossi and Antonio Candreva among those hoping to impress.
