Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Italy could line up for Friday's Euro 2020 opener against Turkey.

As they prepare to host Euro 2020's opening game, Italy are at almost full strength to meet dark horses Turkey at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

The Azzurri will be looking to make the most of their home advantage, particularly with players including likely starters Ciro Immobile, Leonardo Spinazzola and Alessandro Florenzi having called the grand old stadium their home.

On Friday, Immobile is poised to retain the centre-forward spot ahead of Torino's Andrea Belotti, who suffered a loss of form towards the end of the Serie A season, while Florenzi is set to shake off a muscular issue to start at the ground where he made his name before switching to Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier this week, midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini finally succumbed to an ongoing muscle problem and is now likely to miss the entire event, with Fiorentina's Gaetano Castrovilli most likely to replace him on the bench.

Head coach Roberto Mancini has few other fitness concerns ahead of the game, though, so a similar side to that which began Italy's friendly win versus the Czech Republic last time out is set to start.

However, Florenzi's PSG colleague Marco Verratti has had to train separately from the rest of the squad during the past week, with Manuel Locatelli therefore in line to join Jorginho and Nicolo Barella in a three-man midfield.

Defensively, Mancini has several options to choose from - particularly in the centre - but is fancied to reunite the experienced Juventus pairing of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, so young Scudetto-winner Alessandro Bastoni and Lazio's Francesco Acerbi will remain in reserve for now.

Like Bastoni, another well-regarded member of the new Azzurri generation is more likely to emerge from the bench, as Federico Chiesa could be pipped to a place in the XI by Domenico Berardi, who likes to cut in from the right flank onto his lethal left foot - with Napoli's top scorer Lorenzo Insigne set to play the equivalent role on the left.

Italy possible starting lineup: Donnarumma; Florenzi, Bonucci, Chiellini, Spinazzola; Barella, Jorginho, Locatelli; Berardi, Immobile, Insigne
