Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy reportedly prepares a bid for Brentford midfielder Harry Forrester.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy was reportedly in attendance for Brentford's FA Cup tie with Southend United on Tuesday to check on the progress of Harry Forrester.

Forrester, 22, is regarded as one of the best prospects in the lower leagues, leading to suggestions that a host of Championship clubs were monitoring proceedings.

According to Sky Sports News, McCarthy has been impressed with the former Aston Villa midfielder and could make a move before the end of the January window.

Forrester's deal with Brentford will expire at the end of the season.
