Team News: Fulham debut for Ross McCormack in season opener at Ipswich Town

Ross McCormack is given his Fulham debut as the Cottagers play a league game below the Premier League for the first time since 2001.

Ross McCormack will make his Fulham debut in this evening's late kickoff at Ipswich Town on the first full day of the Football League season.

The striker, who joined from Leeds United for a reported £11m this summer, leads the Cottagers' attack at Portman Road.

He is one of several debutants in Felix Magath's XI as Fulham play a league game below the Premier League for the first time since 2001.

Mick McCarthy, meanwhile, selects just one Ipswich debutant in his lineup as big Hungarian striker Balint Bajner partners Daryl Murphy in attack.

Young right-back Elliot Hewitt is given a chance on the right wing as the club has a number of injury problems out wide, while last season's top scorer David McGoldrick still isn't deemed fit enough to start.

Ipswich: Gerken; Chambers, Berra, Smith, Mings; Hewitt, Skuse, Hyam, Tabb; Murphy, Bajner
Subs: Bialkowski, McGoldrick, Bru, Wordsworth, Henshall, Marriott, Nouble

Fulham: Joronen; Hoogland, Hutchinson, Bodurov, Stafylidis; Parker, Dembele; Hyndman, David, Burgess; McCormack
Subs: Bettinelli, Eisfeld, Roberts, Woodrow, Rodallega, Fotheringham, Burn
