Ipswich Town 1-1 Leicester City: Highlights, man of the match, stats as McKenna winless in Premier League

Ipswich stoppage-time heartbreak in relegation six-pointer against Leicester

Kieran McKenna's Ipswich Town were held to yet another stalemate on Saturday afternoon when they drew 1-1 with Leicester City at Portman Road in a crucial relegation six-pointer.

The match was fairly evenly contested in the first half, though the hosts generated double the visitor's five shots with 47% possession.

However, left-back Leif Davis netted in the 55th minute after volleying the ball into the right of the net from the left of the box after a fantastic diagonal assist from Sam Morsy.

Ipswich thought they had done enough to take all three points, but Jordan Ayew snatched a point for the Foxes when he struck in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time to level the scoreline.

The result means that Ipswich will end the game in 18th place with only five points from 10 matches, and they are just three points from last-placed Wolves.

As for the visitors, the draw was means that Leicester are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games having beaten Southampton and Bournemouth in the two prior league matches, and they are in 15th place with 10 points after 10 matchweeks.

Davis's goal was a spectacular demonstration of skill from both the left-back, who may not score a better goal than his first-time volley into the side netting, and Morsy, considering the midfielder played an inch-perfect pass to the defender.

Kalvin Phillips was dismissed in the 78th minute for a second bookable offence after a poor challenge on the Foxes' Ricardo Pereira.

The home side defended admirably, but Steve Cooper's men drew level thanks to Ayew's calm finish into the bottom-right corner from the six-yard box after he combined with Jamie Vardy just inside the penalty area.

IPSWICH TOWN VS. LEICESTER CITY HIGHLIGHTS

55th min: Ipswich Town 1-0 Leicester City (Leif Davis)

Sam Morsy picks up the ball near the touchline on the right of the pitch and plays a fantastic floating ball into the left of the box towards Leif Davis, who volleys into the right of the net.

An amazing volley!

94th min: Ipswich Town 1-1 Leicester City (Jordan Ayew)

Ipswich counter on the right side of the pitch, but Leicester win possession and play towards Jordan Ayew, who combines with Jamie Vardy before striking into the bottom-right corner from inside the six-yard box.

Joy for Leicester, heartbreak for Ipswich!

MAN OF THE MATCH - DARA O'SHEA

Despite the fact his side conceded a late equaliser, Dara O'Shea can be proud of his defensive performance on Saturday afternoon given he was pivotal to Ipswich's resilient showing.

The centre-back was involved in 16 defensive actions, more than any other player on the pitch, including making five blocks and nine clearances, the most of anybody from either team.

O'Shea also was not dribbled past, and his overall command of the penalty area almost earned Ipswich an invaluable three points, but Ayew's goal does not diminish his outing.
