Mick McCarthy: 'We should have won'

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has claimed that his side should have won today's Championship game at Barnsley, after two late goals from the visitors secured them a 2-2 draw.

The Tractor Boys trailed 1-0 to Chris O'Grady's goal at half time, and despite an improved performance in the second period, Tomasz Cywka's deflected free kick doubled the hosts' lead.

McCarthy's men then scored two goals in quick succession with less then 10 minutes to go, with Christophe Berra's close-range finish and David McGoldrick's strike ensuring that both sides shared the spoils.

The Ipswich manager told reporters after the match: "We played well in the second half and had enough chances to win it.

"We were profligate and let them off the hook because we had the ball at the edge of their box, playing well, we lose it and they get a free kick and stick in the back of our net.

"I've been there as a player. You can get that resignation when a goal goes against when you've played well, but we didn't let their heads drop, we rallied them on and we got what we deserved by a good stretch. I don't think we got what we deserved actually. I think we should have won."

Ipswich currently sit just outside the Championship playoffs in seventh place.
