Ipswich Town defender Aaron Cresswell hails the impact of manager Mick McCarthy after the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss guided them off the bottom of the table.

Ipswich Town defender Aaron Cresswell has insisted that the Tractor Boys' improvement has been a result of having a settled defence.

McCarthy arrived at Portman Road with the club in disarray at the bottom of the Championship table, but after McCarthy picked up 13 points from his opening seven games, Ipswich are now in 20th place and have conceded just four goals in their last five games.

Cresswell told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Now we've got a steady back four, we're looking to keep it tight at the back."

"Him and TC (coach Terry Connor) have got bags of experience. They've been around and had great careers, so it's nice for them to pass it on to us"

Cresswell has made 64 appearances for Ipswich.
