Sports Mole's end-of-season reports: Premier League

Read through Sports Mole's in-depth recaps of the 2014-15 season for the 20 Premier League clubs.

Another season of top-flight action came to a close on Sunday as Hull City became the final club to fall through the trapdoor and legends Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard bid adieu to the Premier League.

The title was wrapped up some weeks ago as long-time favourites Chelsea claimed their first championship in five years, forcing holders Manchester City into second. Arsenal took their customary spot in the Champions League places, while Manchester United improved to fourth under the management of Louis van Gaal.

Southampton were surprise challengers for the European places, but it was participation in the Europa League that gave Everton a domestic season to forget. Managerial changes paid off for Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion, while it was a nervy end to the campaign for Aston Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle United.

Burnley and Queens Park Rangers dropped back to the second tier at the first opportunity, as fellow promoted side Leicester City - long considered doomed to relegation - pulled off one of the most astonishing runs in recent Premier League history to wind up 14th.
