Lars Lagerback: 'Iceland can beat France'

Iceland joint-coach Lars Lagerback calls on his team to take advantage of France's attacking style in Monday's Euro 2016 quarter-final.

Iceland joint-coach Lars Lagerback has insisted that his team have the credentials to overcome France in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 on Sunday night.

In their first ever appearance at the European Championships, Iceland advanced through the group stages before recording a 2-1 win over England in the round of 16.

Next up for the minnows is a quarter-final with hosts France and despite their status as underdogs, Lagerback is confident that his side have the tools to overcome Didier Deschamps's team.

"You always try to find the strength and weaknesses in every team. It's very difficult to find weaknesses in the French team," Lagerback told reporters.

"I don't think it matters much that they have some players suspended [Adil Rami and N'Golo Kante]. The quality in the squad is so good. But I think and hope we can give France some questions to answer. They have a very attacking style and that is something that could give us some opportunities.

"We have to focus on our own game, though. It's about what we can do with the ball when they are out of position. We improved in this area of the game against England and want to do even better against France."

The winner of Sunday's match will face either Germany or Italy in the semi-finals next week.
