Half-Time Report: Tamas Priskin puts Hungary in the driving seat against Norway

Priskin puts Hungary in the driving seat

Tamas Priskin's standout strike has put Hungary into a 1-0 lead over Norway at half time in the second leg of their Euro 2016 playoff decider this evening, leaving the hosts leading 2-0 on aggregate.

Hungary aimed to make their intentions clear early on in the game, as Orjan Nyland was forced to make a save from Hungary skipper Balazs Dzsudzsak, who struck a speculative effort from distance.

The hosts got a vital goal not too long after the opening chance, when Tamas Kadar sent a ball into the channel for an onrushing Priskin, who collected smartly before producing a memorable finish high into the top corner.

Haitam Aleesami might have brought Norway back into the contest midway through the half, only to be denied cleverly by Hungary keeper Gabor Kiraly, as the stopper used his legs to keep out a low shot.

Hungary could have found themselves 2-0 up on the night come half time had Dzsudzsak been a touch luckier, but Nyland found himself well-placed to pull out a strong diving save to deny the Hungarian just before the interval.

Norway should have pulled level right on the stroke of half time as Martin Odegaard delivered a perfect corner, leaving Even Hovland to head straight against the crossbar at the back post.
