The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to the newly-promoted Premier League side in recent weeks.
Tigers boss Steve Bruce is close to landing his target, with the striker booked in for a medical today, according to Sky Sports News.
Austin netted 28 goals for Burnley last season.
