Hull have beaten Portsmouth 1-0 at the KC Stadium to move up to eighth in the Championship table.

An effort from former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Robert Koren after 11 minutes was enough to separate the two sides.

Koren struck the decisive blow with a strike from outside of the box that flew into the bottom left-hand corner of Jamie Ashdown's goal in the first half.

Portsmouth briefly rallied but they couldn't break Hull down and failed to get a single shot on target during the match.

Pompey's misery was compounded in the 77th minute when Luke Varney was sent off after he was adjudged to have elbowed James Chester.
