In-form Mohamed Diame shifts praise onto Hull City defence after Crystal Palace win

In-form Diame shifts praise onto Hull defence

Mohamed Diame was happy to continue his goalscoring form in Hull City's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, but credited his defensive teammates for the victory.

The deadline-day signing took his Tigers tally to three goals in four games as they picked up maximum Premier League points for the first time since the opening day of the season at the KC Stadium on Saturday.

Diame is delighted to be contributing so substantially for his new club, but feels that a first clean sheet in nine games for Hull is equally important as they prepare for some tough upcoming fixtures.

"We deserved it," he told reporters. "The clean sheet was good. We have conceded a lot of goals lately and so the clean sheet was important and we are looking forward to the next game.

"I am happy about scoring another goal. I am a midfielder and all midfielders need to score goals. It is important for my confidence and I am happy and hopeful I can score more goals.

"It was important to win this game because after the international break we have Arsenal and Liverpool, which aren't easy games, so this is good for the confidence."

The Senegalese midfielder joined Hull from West Ham United for a fee believed to be in the region of £3.5m.
