Steve Harper wants Hull City response against Manchester United

Steve Harper calls on his Hull City teammates to respond positively to their defeat against Aston Villa when they face Manchester United on Tuesday.

Hull City goalkeeper Steve Harper has urged his teammates to respond positively to their defeat against Aston Villa when they travel to Manchester United on Tuesday.

The Tigers saw their winless run in the Premier League extended to three matches on Saturday as they were beaten 3-1 at Villa Park.

Despite acknowledging that United will be keen to put their recent defeat to Sunderland behind them, Harper wants Hull to make a swift return to winning ways.

"Tomorrow could be a very tough night," he told the club's official website. "If you go to Manchester United and you are below par, then you will get trounced.

"They put four past Norwich last week, although obviously Sunderland have got a result there. They will be looking for a response.

"But we need a response too; it's up to us to provide a reaction and get back to the Hull that stood us in good stead all season."

Norwich's goalless draw with Chelsea on Sunday made sure that Hull would be playing in the Premier League next season.
