Hull City owner Assem Allam says club will not drop prices after TV deal

Allam: 'Hull City will not drop prices'

Hull City owner Assem Allam has confirmed that the club will not drop their ticket prices in wake of the new television deal for the Premier League.

Broadcasters Sky Sports and BT Sport will pay just over £5bn between them for the rights from 2016-2019, and many pundits have called for clubs to decrease ticket prices as they become ever richer.

However, Allam told BBC Sport: "The only way to reduce prices is to create more fans by increasing capacity. But you need money to build the stadium. 10,000 seats will cost £20m."

"If you have 23,000 happily paying what they pay now, to reduce it you are not helping others. We need to expand stadiums to give more fans and families the chance to come and watch."

Hull's KC Stadium has a capacity of 25,586.
