Preview: Huddersfield Town vs. Millwall - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Huddersfield Town and Millwall, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Huddersfield Town and Millwall will both be aiming to break into the Championship playoff positions when they meet on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams are each on 21 points in eighth and 10th respectively, placing them outside of the top six on goal difference only.

Remarkably, there are seven different teams all on 21 points heading into this weekend's Championship fixtures.

Huddersfield are in the middle of that pack and dropped out of the top six following a 3-0 loss to leaders Bournemouth last weekend, which was their first defeat in five games and ended a run of three successive clean sheets.

The Terriers have only lost back-to-back games once so far this season, so will be glad to be back at the John Smith's Stadium where they have won four of their last six matches.

However, they have failed to score in five of their last seven league fixtures which will be cause for concern for Carlos Corberan despite his side's promising league position.

Millwall are one of the Championship's form teams, having won four of their last five games to move into playoff contention.

Tom Bradshaw scored a second-half brace as the Lions came from behind to beat Gary Rowett's former side Stoke City 2-1 last weekend.

The South East London outfit are unbeaten in their last five away games and have only lost once on the road so far this season.

Scott Malone's early goal against his former club gave Millwall a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield in their last meeting in January.

Team News

Huddersfield will be able to welcome back teenage centre-back Levi Colwill, who was suspended for the trip to Bournemouth last weekend.

There could be a shake-up in attack, with Fraizer Campbell – who is still yet to score this season – likely to be replaced by Danny Ward.

Danel Sinani and Duane Holmes are also pushing for recalls as the Terriers look to banish their woes in front of goal.

There is mixed news in Millwall's midfield as George Saville returns from suspension but George Evans has been ruled out with a calf strain.

Mason Bennett will be assessed ahead of the game having missed the win over Stoke with a knee injury, while Benik Afobe is available again after being ineligible against the Potters as he is on loan from the bet365 Stadium.

Gary Rowett has a decision to make in the centre of midfield, with Billy Mitchell and Maikel Kieftenbeld battling for a starting spot alongside Saville.

Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Nicholls; Pearson, Lees, Colwill; Thomas, Hogg, O'Brien, Toffolo; Sinani, Ward, Holmes

Millwall possible starting lineup:
Bialkowski; Ballard, Hutchinson, Cooper; Leonard, Mitchell, Saville, Malone; Wallace, Bradshaw, Ojo

SM words green background

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Millwall

As their respective points tallies suggest, there is very little to split these two teams. Millwall will go into the game with more confidence due to their recent form, but Huddersfield are back in front of their own fans and will have used the free week to refresh their tired squad; we think this one will end level.
