The Magpies have four points more from away games than from matches at St James' Park so far this season.

Fabian Schar has emphasised Newcastle's determination to perform well at home, saying they are "not comfortable" with their St James' Park record this season.

The Magpies' 1-0 Premier League win at Huddersfield on Saturday took them to 16 points from 17 games.

They have claimed 10 points from eight matches on the road and six from nine on their own turf, suffering seven home losses.

That includes defeats in each of their last two home games, with them being beaten 3-0 by West Ham and then 2-1 by Wolves.

Their next fixture sees them host bottom side Fulham on Saturday, and Newcastle defender Schar said on the club's official website: "At the moment, we have quite good results away.

"We have another important week in front of us with a game at home, and it's another big chance for us.

"We are not comfortable with the results at St James' Park – we always want to get points there, so we have to try and show the fans what we've got and (how) we can play.

"We can improve a lot of things. At the same time, we always have to be focused and play with our heart. Even if it is a home game, we have to be able to defend like we do away."

Saturday's match saw Newcastle secure maximum points despite Huddersfield bossing possession and having more efforts on goal than them.

Salomon Rondon struck the winner in the 55th minute as he finished off a break.

Having registered their first win in four games, Newcastle moved up a place to 14th in the table, and they are four points above the relegation zone.

Huddersfield, whose losing run extended to a fourth match, have slipped to 19th and they are two points adrift of safety.

Defender Chris Lowe said on the Terriers' official website: "Obviously we are disappointed.

"We played alright but, in the end, we haven't got a result and that is the most important thing.

"We dominated them in the first half. They had two or three half-chances, and with their first shot on target they scored a goal.

"I think everybody knows that Newcastle are a hard team to break down and especially when they are a goal ahead, they are even more difficult to break down and that is what we have seen."

Huddersfield host 17th-placed Southampton next weekend, and Lowe added: "We will prepare as hard as we can for our next game and we know that we have the chance to win it."
