Ten-man Guingamp shock Monaco with 1-0 victory

Guingamp beat Monaco 1-0 in Ligue 1 thanks to a Dorian Leveque strike, despite going down to 10 men early in the first half.

Guingamp have shocked Monaco by beating them 1-0 in Ligue 1 this afternoon, despite playing most of the match with 10 men.

The home side suffered an early blow when Moustapha Diallo was given a straight red card for a dangerous sliding tackle, and this made them more defensively minded as they tried to limit the space that Monaco had in the attacking third of the pitch.

This made for a frustrating first half for the visitors and, shortly after the break, Guingamp took a surprise lead when midfielder Dorian Leveque tapped the ball into the net, after Claudio Beauvue's shot fell perfectly for him at the back post.

This woke Monaco up, and they went close to equalising through a Geoffrey Kondogbia header and a long-range strike from Yannick Ferreira Carrasco.

Kondogbia had Monaco's best chance late on when he was played through on goal, but he lacked composure and hit his shot straight at Jonas Lossl in the Guingamp goal.

Dimitar Berbatov then presented full-back Layvin Kurzawa with a fine opportunity from seven yards out, but he also shot straight at Lossl, before Berbatov missed a header from three yards out.
